Teruhiko Yumura was one of the leading artists in the 1970s movement of « punk » mangas, which promoted lunacy and manic scribbles instead of artistic qualities. Yumura published his work under a variety of pseudonyms, including Terry Johnson and King Terry, and appeared in the pages and on covers of magazines like Garo and Comic Cue. He created among others the manga ‘Shogun Tofu’, which also found its way to Raw magazine in 1984. Yumura is the « godfather » of the heta-uma drawing style, which means in translation « bad, but good ».
